Answer:

People's curiosity about foreign countries has never faded in the history, and travelling overseas is widely recognized as an effective way of getting to know other countries. Nevertheless, some people claim that it is unnecessary to visit the country physically considering the wide range of information we can obtain online.

Obviously, living in the information era enables residents to acquire almost all kinds of knowledge needed, not to mention the great number of tourist programmes available on the Internet or TV. For example, a Chinese popular reality show called "Flower sisters" shows audience some europe countries in season one and South America in season 2, which does not only include a well-planned travelling route with breathtaking sceneries but also a thorough introduction of local culture and tradition.

Another argument from this group of people is that learning from the Internet or TV saves time as well as money. Even though international tourism is no longer unaffordable for many people, it still poses a great burden on common people. Meanwhile, it takes a long time for an overseas journey which many office worker can not make time for. Therefore, travelling abroad is unnecessary in terms of the time and financial cost.

There are, however, many advocates of travelling physically to learn about a foreign country. These people believe that only through this experience can tourists know a country in a deep and real way. Besides visiting some local tourist attractions such as mountains or museums, travellers can also communicate with local people and observe their lifestyle in person rather than sitting in front of a screen to learn from other people's perspectives.

Personally speaking, the two ways of learning about the world are both practical and beneficial. When a person has sufficient time and money, travelling physically is of course of an exciting choice. But if money or time do not allow, then staying at home searching the Internet or watching a tourist programme is also an efficient and economic practice.
